The aim of the classification is to enhance the development and use of low-emitting building materials

Emission and odour testing provides reliable information of the emission level of building materials.

Various chemicals are emitted from building and interior decoration materials into indoor air. The M1 Emission Classification presents emission requirements for building materials, fixture and furniture used in office and residential buildings so that the classified products support good indoor air quality. M1 Emission Classification for low-emitting building materials is a type I ecolabel according to EN ISO 14024:2018 with restricted scope of indoor emissions. Read more about the M1 Classification in section What is M1?.
